Fitness Friday: January 2018 recap

Happy Groundhog Day!

Like Bill Murray’s character in the 1993 film, when it comes to my health, I find myself repeating the same mistakes over and over again. Of course, the movie character learns from his mistakes and creates the new, better habits that help him win the girl in the end.

So can I learn from my mistakes and stop repeating the bad habits? Put a more positive way, can I build healthy habits that help me lead the life I want?

Those are the questions that inspire today’s post. I’ll share with you my successes over the past month. I have a long way to go, so it helps to remind how far I’ve come.

January 2018 successes

  • I didn’t drink pop this month and gave up cream and sugar in my coffee and tea.
  • I completed 18 new workout videos toward my goal of 100 for the year.
  • I walked 322,658 steps and 133.51 miles!!
  • No one in my household missed school or work due to illness. In fact, Philip has maintained his perfect attendance streak for the year.

I know many friends and coworkers have been knocked out by illness this winter. Last year at this time, I had a cough I couldn’t shake and thought I would never feel better. I’m definitely grateful that my boys and I have stayed healthy this winter (knock on wood).
