Fitness Friday: 9,240 steps

Last week I shared that I want to increase my average steps per day by 10%. That works out to 9,240 steps per day.

This is my third week of posting my daily step count to the private Facebook group that my friend and I use to discuss healthy living. But this is the first week I’m also reporting out to my blog readers.

My 7-day average is now 9, 794 steps. My 28-day average has increased by 15% over the previous 28 days to 9,430 steps.

Since last week, I was under goal two days: I only logged 8,604 steps Saturday and I missed my goal by a mere 60 steps (insert /facepalm) on Friday. However, my average was saved by the 11,631 steps I managed on Tuesday.

Now that the weather is getting colder, it’s going to take willpower and creativity to maintain my progress. I’ll check in again next Friday to let you know how it goes.

Day 10!

  1. That is a lot of steps! It is always so much worse having to do these in cold weather but I guess when you are moving it keeps you warm. It is good to have records of these achievements to reflect back on after NanoPoblano is over 🙂

  2. I actually prefer to walk in the winter, because I don’t care for the gasping, beet-face, sweatiness of summer walking (although, granted, I was 50 lbs heavier this summer than I am right now)! I have a goal of averaging 10,000 steps a day, but since I don’t put much effort into walking on the weekends (just whatever errands we happen to be running), I have just stepped up to 12,000 steps a day, 5 days a week. Once I see how I average through the next few weeks, I’ll adjust where needed.

Congratulations on getting back on track!

PS- if you have an android phone, the Samsung Health app has monthly step challenges, and it has really inspired me to stay on track with my walking! It came on my phone, so I’m sure it’s free, even if you don’t have a ‘Samsung’ brand phone.
