Last Sunday, we went to a baby shower – a farm animal baby shower, that is. The Mill Creek MetroParks Farm in Canfield, Ohio has been holding this annual event to open its season since 1992. According to news reports, our family accounted for just three of the 5,000 visitors that day. It’s a good thing they didn’t all show up at once. As it was, their were too many people for our taste. Still, we got to see a variety of newborn and very young animals include kids, piglets, lambs and calves. I was surprised to see some more exotic animals, too. My favorites were the baby hedgehogs and the joey.
We skipped the cake and punch and the one barn that had a long line of people waiting to go in. Still, the great weather and oh-so-cute critters made it worth the 160 mile round trip.
