This week, Kerri from Undiagnosed but Okay suggested the theme for Twisted MixTape Tuesday:
How about a “this song could’ve sent me to jail?” The Doors come on baby get higher:) Or Carrie Underwood doing a little grand larceny beating up her boyfriends truck? Blondie gets arrested after seeing Aliens in Rapture Or even to be funnier: Joe Cocker you can leave your hat on, so if I left just my hat on I would be arrested for indecent exposure. Trust me it wouldn’t be pretty!
I don’t know why, but I got it in my head that I had to come up with a newspaper headline for the songs that I picked that explained the crime. I had a lot of fun picking my five felony melodies. I hope you enjoy them.
The crime: ARSON
The headline: Witness describes encounter with pyromaniac
The song:
The crime: PROSTITUTION
The headline: Undercover sting results in the arrests of several high-priced call girls
The song:
The crime: BURGLARY
The headline: Victim confronts thief, invites him to steal from her again
The song:
The crime: PERJURY
The headline: Testimony thrown out, witness accused of perjury
The song:
The crime: MURDER FOR HIRE
The headline: Discount contract killer arrested
The song:
It’s NaBloPoMo Day 26. The end is in sight! If you need a post for today, join Twisted Mix Tape hostesses Jen and Kristi.
Great title and I like how you broke it down. Dirty Deeds has like three or four possible convictions. Great list, especially with the King. I needed a little 1970s E today.

All of these are great choices – both by the titles and by the actual songs. Now I have “Dirty deeds… done dirt cheap!” stuck in my head!

Good way of bringing this to life. There have to be a million songs about lying. I never considered perjury! Nice way to include it! I have to say, the best “Big Spender” renditions have been by Shirley Bassey and Peggy Lee, although after a million and a half times sung, who’s picky? 🙂 Great Job!

Love the headlines! Big Spender is about prostitution…not about dancing?
This was one of my favorites.

Ah! Dirty Deeds is my most famous mishead song – I thought it was called Thunderchiefs for years. So my husband and I still sing it that way. Mostly just to mock me. I enjoyed your list and what you did with the headlines. Great way to do this post!

I loved your headlines–brilliant! I love the Joplin song, and never thought about it this way before: “The headline: Victim confronts thief, invites him to steal from her again.”

I was going to go with something about organ theft, but when I listened to the song again I opted for that headline instead
