Chasing clouds

Our community is holding its annual hot air balloon festival, but the weather hasn’t been cooperating. Rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds have led to the cancellation of several balloon activities.  That hasn’t really mattered to us since Philip is still working through his summer cold.

However, many other organizations schedule their own events during the festival to take advantage of the influx of visitors and to provide things to do in the middle of the day when hot air balloons don’t fly. We did want Philip to have a chance to get outside and enjoy some fresh air, so that’s how we ended up at Laughery Field.

The field is home to the Ashland Cloud Chasers. Club members were there from 9:00 am to dusk (or maybe until the rain came) demonstrating their radio-controlled airplanes.

Philip alternated his attention from the gravel on the ground to one man’s plane in the sky.

I hope we are able to return and watch these aviators in action again soon.
